We're always happy to discuss the products and services on offer and explain any restoration options that may be available to you on all types of antique and modern china, pottery and porcelain and studio pottery.
Collect as many pieces of the damaged item as you can and protect them from further damage by wrapping them separately and storing them in a safe location. Please do not attempt to carry out any repairs prior to seeking professional advice. The use of superglue prior to the piece arriving at the studio will extend the restoration period and increase the repair costs due to the time scale required to remove it and on some occasions it has resulted in the restoration being compromised as correct re-alignment cannot be achieved.
Please contact us with your initial enquiry by email or phone using the contact options on this website and we'll advise you on the best way to proceed with your specific restoration request. Check the services page for details of our waiting list and restoration timescales. Our Terms and Conditions link below gives details of notification of completion, timescales for collection, invoice due dates and storage charges that may apply, a copy of which is available on request.
Ideally, if you are able to supply digital images during this initial stage that give of good general idea of the damage involved then you can include all relevant images as email attachments and a restoration estimate will be compiled and returned to you. No work will be carried out without authorisation in writing.
Restoration to gilding is part of the services we offer. A close match is achievable for most types of gilding but a workshop examination is always required prior to confirmation of this part of the restoration process as assessing gilding requirement from images can be difficult. Highly reflective or "mirror" type reflective gilded areas are challenging to repair to an original finish and advice would be given in such circumstances.
There is a reduced range of repair options to certain items originally manufactured for the consumption of food and drink and details can be found on our Services page under "Techniques".
For items that include electrical componets and wiring, please see the available information on our Services page under "The Process".
We offer a local collection and delivery service that covers the Exeter area. This is a chargeable service and information is available on request.
Return delivery charges are quoted separately and the responsibility of the client. We use the Royal Mail 'Special Delivery Next Day' service, a 'signed for' service which offers a guaranteed next working day delivery. Please note that ceramics and glass are on the list of exclusions for compensation for most delivery and courier services. However, Royal Mail Special Delivery is processed completely separately from the standard postal traffic and is handled with extra care. Please ensure that you pack all items with sufficient protection to ensure that no further damage is caused in transit. Please contact your chosen courier for further details of weight and dimension limitations, packing advice, compensation exclusions and all other services offered. Please extend your insurance cover during the in transit and repair process.
No items should be sent to us for repair or restoration from outside the UK without contacting us first for advice. Due to the delicate nature of ceramics we cannot accept any responsibility for any damage caused in transit via any International shipping service.
Payment can be made by bank transfer, all major credit cards, cash or cheque. We no longer accept credit card payment over the phone.
